About Obiaton
Obiaton is an online marketplace where independent vendors list products and customers buy them. The vendor shown on a listing is responsible for the product, its description, lawful sale, quality and fulfilment. Obiaton provides the marketplace, checkout, order records, messaging and support tools. We may review listings and accounts, but we do not inspect or guarantee every product.
Our service is intended for people who can legally enter into a contract. You must provide accurate information and use the service in compliance with applicable law.
Accounts and security
Keep your contact details current and protect your sign-in credentials. Registration requires email confirmation, and logins may require a one-time code. You are responsible for activity under your account unless you promptly tell us about unauthorised access. We may ask for information needed to verify an account or investigate misuse.
Vendor registration is an application. A vendor may list or sell only after approval. We may reject, restrict or suspend an account or listing for inaccurate information, unlawful activity, safety concerns or a breach of these Terms, with a chance to contact us about the decision where appropriate.
For customers
Products, prices and orders
Review each listing, price, availability and delivery information before paying. Prices and charges are displayed in Ghana cedis (GHC); the payment provider processes the equivalent GHS amount. Your cart may contain products from several vendors. One checkout creates a separate order for each vendor, so fulfilment, delivery status and any issue can be handled for the relevant vendor's items.
We may decline or cancel an order where payment is not confirmed, a listing is unavailable or clearly incorrect, or fulfilment would be unlawful. If payment has already been captured, we will address the payment in line with applicable law and the circumstances of the order.
Delivery and confirmation
Each vendor arranges fulfilment and decides its delivery terms and any charge. Delivery is not included in the current checkout payment; agree any charge with the vendor before shipping or paying it separately. The vendor provides the delivery person or company's details when an order is shipped. Statuses and timestamps are progress updates, not a guarantee that an item has arrived. Mark an order delivered only after you have received it. Contact the vendor or Obiaton promptly if the status or delivery details are wrong.
Returns and refunds
Product-specific return terms may be shown on the listing or agreed with the vendor. Your mandatory rights under applicable law still apply. If an item is missing, damaged, materially different from its description or otherwise problematic, contact the vendor and Obiaton support with the order details. We will review the available evidence and help resolve the issue; outcomes depend on the facts and applicable law.
For vendors
You are responsible for the accuracy of your store profile and listings, your right to sell the products, stock and availability, product safety, required licences, taxes, warranties and compliance with applicable law. Clearly disclose material product details, restrictions, delivery terms and any charges. Do not list counterfeit, prohibited, unsafe or misleading products.
Fulfil only the orders assigned to your store. Keep status updates accurate and timely; supply a real delivery contact when marking an order shipped, and enter any applicable shipping amount accurately. Do not mark an order delivered on the customer's behalf. Respond reasonably to customer questions, delivery issues and legitimate complaints.
Customer information received through an order or chat may be used only to fulfil that order, provide related support or meet a legal obligation. Do not use it for unrelated marketing or disclose it to others without an appropriate basis. Keep any delivery partner you appoint to the same standard.
Payments, vendor disbursements and promotions
Customer checkout and paid product promotions use Paystack. Obiaton may add a transaction fee when an active fee rule applies. The fee is calculated as a percentage of the discounted item total or promotion package price, shown before payment, and recorded separately from the vendor's amount. The final payable amount is shown during checkout. Payment is subject to Paystack's processing and any applicable payment-provider terms. Obiaton does not ask you to send a card number through chat.
Customer order payments go to Obiaton's payment account. Following confirmed delivery, an administrator records a vendor payment as released after the vendor has been paid outside the platform. This is an administrative record, not an automatic transfer from Paystack. A displayed release status should be read together with the relevant order and payment records; contact us if it appears incorrect. Applicable fees or deductions must be disclosed to the vendor separately before they are applied.
Vendors may buy promotion packages offered in their dashboard. The package price, placement and duration shown at purchase govern that promotion. An active promoted product is labelled and may rank ahead of ordinary listings; it returns to normal placement when its promotion ends. Promotion does not guarantee views, enquiries or sales. We may remove a promotion that breaches these Terms or applicable law and will address any payment consequence fairly under the circumstances.
Content, messages and acceptable use
You retain rights in the content you upload, including product photos, store information, reviews and chat images. You give Obiaton a non-exclusive permission to host, display and technically process that content as needed to operate and promote the marketplace and its listings. You must have the rights to upload it and must not include unlawful, deceptive, abusive, infringing or malicious material.
Use reviews and chat for genuine marketplace activity. Do not harass others, send spam, impersonate someone, attempt to bypass payment or account controls, upload scripts or malware, or manipulate reviews, visits, search results or promotions. We may remove content and limit access when reasonably needed to protect users or the service.
Obiaton's name, branding, design and software remain ours or our licensors'. These Terms do not transfer those rights to you.
Problems and disputes
For an order issue, first use the order details and vendor chat to identify the affected vendor and explain the problem. You may also write to hello@obiaton.com. Include the order number, dates and relevant evidence. We may ask both sides for information and may correct records or take account action where justified.
Nothing in these Terms removes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded. Obiaton is responsible for its own conduct and legal obligations; vendors remain responsible for their products and fulfilment. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for losses caused by another user's breach, third-party outages or events beyond our reasonable control. We do not limit liability where the law does not allow it.
Changes, governing law and contact
We may update these Terms to reflect changes in the service, law or operations. The current version and effective date will appear here. If a change materially affects your use of Obiaton, we will provide appropriate notice. Continued use after the new terms take effect means you accept them; existing order rights remain subject to applicable law.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ghana, subject to any mandatory rights that apply to you. Questions about these Terms can be sent to hello@obiaton.com.
